On The Fly is Perth’s newest state-of-the-art original live music showcase. It will feature the finest selection of local musicians and bands each month. This collaboration between the Fly By Night and Toward Music comes in an effort to support, nurture and grow the creative opportunities for local artists.
The Easter long weekend music fest lineup is as follows:
The Volcanics formed in Perth’s back blocks with a purpose of playing stripped down rock ‘n’ roll with no hype attached. Inspired by the great local bands that came before them such as The Victims and The Scientists as well as the classic rock sounds of The Stooges, MC5 & AC/DC, the boys from the band have concocted their own brand of white hot, fuel injected rock n roll. The Volcanics are known for their raw and explosive live performances and are humbled to have played alongside many great national and international acts including Asteroid B612, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Hellacopters, Celibate Rifles, Mudhoney, The Drones, Radio Birdman and You am I. Paul McCarthy Band
These days, Paul McCarthy fronts Perth band,
The Wishers, but he has a long history in WA music, going back to The Jackals and before that as songwriter for The Boys.
The members of BATS are a roll call of esteemed Perth musicians: Michael Paver (TSOSJ, The Slim Pickins), Jozef Grech (The Infidels, Project Mayhem), Pete Acklin (The Volcanics) and Tim Stacey (High Horse, Ruby Boots), Tim Hamzah (TSOSJ, The Belle Ends).
Having successfully launched their Debut EP in 2016 BATS have been in the studio crafting out a masterful albeit heavy album set for release in October 2017 titled “Truthless Faithless”. The record touches on subjects such as discontentment with self and the greater populous. “Truthless Faithless” sees a slightly heavier sound emerge from the bats camp be it in both tone and subject matter.
